Did you know that you can “write” a poem by erasing words? Welcome to the art of black out poetry. In this workshop, novelist and poet Francesca de Tores will teach students how to create their own black out poetry by literally “blacking out” words from a text generated by AI.

Linking to a current MAMA artwork that explores AI use, Francesca will show students how their black out poetry can make its own commentary about artificially generated narratives and stories that is also visually arresting, simply by removing words.

This is a very inclusive and unique type of verse that doesn’t require students to generate words and allows them the freedom and authority to redact or edit the words of another.

This event is supported by MAMA.
