The official start of Write Around the Murray 2025 will launch a brand new comic book created by young people who make up the Yes Unlimited Changemakers from Lavington’s The Hive. Throughout the year, these new comic artists have been working with Border artists Kieran Jack and Angie Spice creating the comic. Participants will also have the extra special opportunity to attend a workshop with DC Comics writer, Shane McCarthy.
The Yes Unlimited Change Makers are a diverse group of local young people aged 13 to 18 who are passionate about issues that affect young people. The Hive is a centre in Lavington especially for young people aged 12 to 17 years old, giving them “Somewhere to Go, Something to Do and Someone to Talk To”.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Festivals Australia program.
Best-selling crime novelist Margaret Hickey will also announce the winner of the 2025 Write Around the Murray Short Story Competition.
