Write Around the Murray (WAM) is a five day writers’ festival in Albury. We present high quality, affordable literary programs to audiences on the border of regional NSW and Victoria.
Authors who have appeared at WAM include some of Australia’s most beloved storytellers such as Kate Grenville (Man Booker Prize shortlister), Tony Birch (Patrick White award winner), Dr Clare Wright (shortlisted Prime Ministers Literary Award), Benjamin Law (award-winning Netflix and ABC screenwriter), Ursula Dubosarsky (former Australian Children’s Laureate) and Ellen van Neerven (shortlisted Stella Prize and winner multiple Premier’s Literary Awards).
Write Around the Murray hosts two major writing competitions every year for writers of all ages, the AlburyCity Short Story Award and the Barry Young River of Stories Competition.
