Digital Storytelling – Carole McCulloch
The digital world has opened the door to enabling us to tell our stories in a new and very accessible medium. In these two workshops, Carole will lead you through how to use digital stories as family histories, life reflection tools and personal eportfolios, and will show you how to prepare media for display. You will learn how to upload media and get an introduction to Screencast or YouTube. It is recommended you attend both workshops. Short Story Writing – Cate Kennedy
Cate Kennedy's short stories have been widely published and anthologised in Australia and overseas. Her collection Dark Roots, published in 2006 was shortlisted for the Queensland Premier's Prize and the Australian Literature Medal. She loves talking about - and teaching - short fiction, and conducts occasional workshops and residency classes on this fascinating craft. She is also the author of two poetry collections, a memoir and a stageplay, and is currently hard at work on her first novel. The Making of …….. Jane Downing
These days most movies come with a The Making of… documentary, and this trend is moving to the written word. With examples from contemporary Australian authors, who have written about their writing processes, workshop participants will look at the story behind the story. This includes research, turning fact into fiction, and our debt to ‘the truth’, as well as getting the setting, characters and dialogue ‘right’ to tell your story.
