She has also written a memoir "Sing and Don't Cry - a Mexican journal" (2005) and a collection of her award-winning short stories, "Dark Roots", published here in Australia in 2006 and in the US and the UK in 2008.
Her work has appeared widely in anthologies in Australia as well as in The New Yorker and The Harvard Review. When she's not at home writing, she works as an editor and writing tutor and sometime-writer-in-residence at secondary schools. She's also involved in community theatre.
Her idea of heaven involves a hammock, a cold beer and a great book."
